School is Back in Session...Be Safe! The first few days of school are generally the most hectic for parents, students, teachers and drivers. There will certainly be children walking to school for the first time, children riding their bicycle to school for the first time and obviously new drivers passing through school zones for the first time. In is that time of year again to think safety and by following some simple safety tips we can make sure children are safe. Motorists should - slow down; be especially careful when driving on streets and around school zones, always expect the unexpected; be alert for children walking to and from school as you back out of your driveway or leave your parking garage; watch for children on bicycles, especially at interestions and drivewways - Young bicyclists have a tendency to dart out of streets without looking for traffic; and stop your car when you see lights flashing on a school bus. Red flashing lights indicate that the bus is stopped and studnets are getting on or off the bus. Be safe and watch what is happening around you as you drive.
